According to CoinMeta, Japan plans to provide approximately 100 billion yen (about 636 million US dollars) in subsidies over the next four years to support the large-scale production of the next generation of flexible perovskite solar cells, aiming to commercialize this field where Japan has a technological advantage. The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry is expected to soon select Ricoh and Choshu Industry as recipients of the subsidies. By the fiscal year 2029, the total amount of subsidies is expected to reach 100 billion yen, and the investment from both companies is also expected to be at least on a similar scale. The combined funds from the government and enterprises will be used to build mass production facilities.
