CoinMeta data: According to Benzinga, a potential merger between Tesla and SpaceX would create a company that holds a total of 30,221 Bitcoin coins, valued at approximately $2.56 billion at current prices. SpaceX holds 18,712 Bitcoin coins, while Tesla owns 11,509. Neither company has indicated any plans to buy or sell additional Bitcoin during the merger discussions. After the merger, they will become the sixth-largest listed company by Bitcoin holdings. Tesla's Bitcoin holdings had a significant impact on its third-quarter earnings, recording a pre-tax unrealized gain of $288 million, which is about $224 million after taxes, accounting for approximately 28% of Tesla's $787 million GAAP net income. This gain reflects the increase in Bitcoin prices, rather than cash generated from Tesla's operations. Tesla sold most of its Bitcoin in 2022 and has maintained stability in its remaining holdings over the past four years.
