2026-10-27 06:18:12
According to CoinMeta, the draft regulations on stablecoins proposed by Canada on Saturday stipulate that the maximum redemption fee for stablecoins is 1%, and payment of interest is prohibited. The draft requires companies issuing stablecoins to provide real currency support for each token, which must be returned upon request. Each token must be supported one-to-one by cash and government debt maturing within three months, among other reserves, and these reserves must be held in separate accounts at Canadian custodian institutions to prevent the issuer from going bankrupt. Holders can redeem any amount within three working days, with a maximum fee of 1%. In addition, issuers are not allowed to pay interest for holding tokens, nor may they pay interest through third parties. The draft will come into effect on March 26, 2026, and is expected to be implemented in the fall of 2027.
