osmosis Community Proposal No. 1053 Passed: Terminating Inflationary Issuance of OSMO
2026-10-27 08:07:32
According to CoinMeta, Proposal No. 1053 of the osmosis community was passed with a 91.07% approval rate, deciding to terminate the inflationary issuance of OSMO. Following the approval of the proposal, OSMO will cease new coin minting, and staking rewards will come entirely from protocol revenues, including transaction fees and taker fees. The original annualized yield of about 2 percentage points from additional coin issuance through staking will be canceled, but it is expected that Proposal No. 1052 will compensate for this by increasing the proportion of fees allocated to staking, providing an additional annualized yield of about 1.7 percentage points. Previously, OSMO distributed approximately 121,800 tokens per day through the minting module, of which about 67% went into the community fund pool. This adjustment will also pause the daily unlocking of developer tokens, and the remaining approximately 51.9 million OSMO tokens will continue to be locked in; any future release will require another governance resolution.
