CITIC Securities: Strong buying interest in gold supports prices; for copper prices, attention should be paid to low inventories and the tariff deadline at the end of the year

According to CoinMeta, CITIC Securities released a report on the outlook for commodities with the identifier Q4. The report states that despite the disruptions to gold prices caused by the Federal Reserve's interest rate hikes and tightening expectations, global gold imports in September still totaled a net inflow of 67 tons. The resilience of investment demand, along with the global trend of "de-dollarization" and the ongoing demand from central banks to purchase gold, are expected to provide effective support for gold prices. In the case of copper, expectations for increased production from mines continue to be revised downward. Extreme weather conditions and disruptions to the supply of auxiliary materials such as sulfuric acid may further constrain production. Domestic refined copper supply is contracting, and low inventories are supporting prices at high levels. The delay in the implementation of tariffs on refined copper in the United States has not been canceled yet, and the demand for restocking before the end-of-year period is expected to bring additional price flexibility.
