According to CoinMeta, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell hopes to stop revealing future policy moves in advance, but many of his colleagues believe that the Fed has a responsibility to explain to the public how it will respond to economic changes. Powell has been intent on reducing his public statements, but most of his colleagues have not followed suit. According to statistics from The Wall Street Journal, during the period of silence from the end of the September monetary policy meeting until this week's meeting, at least 16 Federal Reserve officials who have been in office for more than a year gave no fewer than 59 speeches, interviews, or made other public statements. This number is roughly the same as the approximately 54 times last year during the same period. Currently, the U.S. economy is being affected by both the energy shocks caused by the Middle East wars and the boom in investments related to artificial intelligence. Federal Reserve officials are not sure which factor they should adjust monetary policy to address, nor are they certain about the extent of such policy adjustments.
