KaiTou Macro: Weak credit demand in the eurozone indicates growth risks
2026-10-27 21:49:23
According to CoinMeta, KaiTou Macro analyst Harry Chambers pointed out in a report that the European Central Bank's third-quarter bank lending survey indicated that demand for most loan categories had weakened, which posed downward risks to economic growth expectations. Among them, the decline in housing loan demand was the largest since the third quarter of 2023, and banks expect this demand to further decline in the fourth quarter. Chambers stated that demand for corporate investment loans also decreased, but a rebound is expected later on. He noted, "Overall, our comprehensive indicators of credit standards and credit demand show that the eurozone economy was stagnant in the third quarter." Chambers believes that while this does not necessarily mean that the economy will fall into a prolonged slump, the pessimistic sentiment in the banking sector indicates that KaiTou Macro's previous forecast of a 0.2% quarter-on-quarter growth for the eurozone economy in the fourth quarter faces downward risks.
