Keystone: 18,835 Bitcoin hardware wallets destroyed due to key theft
2026-10-28 02:17:26
CoinMeta Data: Bitcoin hardware wallet manufacturer Keystone announces the destruction of 18,835 unsold devices, as attackers obtained keys that prove the authenticity of their hardware. The company has also suspended the shipment of all unsold orders. Keystone indicates that attackers could use these keys to produce counterfeit devices that pass verification checks, which might be sold to unsuspecting customers, leading to asset theft. Keystone also revealed that the total number of affected buyer records is 51,083, of which 25,964 still contain personal information. The company has shortened the retention period for customer data from 180 days to 90 days and has requested Shopify to delete all expired buyer data, with completion expected by November 3rd.
