CoinMeta data: After the presidential runoff election on October 25th, Brazilian companies turned to dollar-backed stablecoins to counter the impact of Lula's victory. According to data provided by Mercado Bitcoin, the trading volume of USDT surged by nearly 800% compared to last Sunday, while Bitcoin trading volume increased by 865%. Enterprises use this exchange to manage risks related to the Brazilian real, especially during periods when traditional financial markets are closed. On October 26th, Brazil's IBOVESPA index fell by 14%, marking its worst performance since March 2020, and the exchange rate of the dollar against the real rose by more than 8%. Market analyst Pedro Fontes stated that the election results reinforced the necessity for investors to diversify their assets, and stablecoins such as USDT and USDC allow investors to hold dollar assets when foreign exchange markets are closed.
