According to CoinMeta, the Financial Services Commission of South Korea has discovered that virtual currency exchanges “bithumb”, Future Asset Global Investment, and Daeshin Securities have all been subjected to hacker attacks. Daeshin Securities issued a press release stating that the personal information and credit details of approximately 38,490 customers were leaked. The day before “bithumb” was compromised, it was found that the company’s internal mobile office system had been accessed by unauthorized personnel, resulting in the leakage of personal information. The Financial Services Commission has dispatched an on-site investigation team to Daeshin Securities to further investigate the situation. Following the system intrusion that occurred at Future Asset Life Insurance Company on the 26th of this month, which led to the leakage of customer information, “bithumb”, Future Asset Global Investment, and Daeshin Securities have also been identified as having suffered hacker attacks. As a result, apart from credit card companies, almost all major financial sectors in South Korea have now confirmed that they have been targeted by hackers.
