According to CoinMeta, as reported by Cailian News on October 28th, the Financial Services Commission of South Korea stated that it has convened an emergency meeting with institutions such as the Financial Supervisory Service, the Financial Security Agency, and the Digital Asset Exchange Association to address cyberattacks on major virtual asset service providers including Bithumb. A report from Bithumb indicates that information regarding employees and their subsidiaries, as well as employees of collaborating companies, may have been leaked. Currently, efforts are underway to verify whether user information has been affected. It has been determined that the compromised system is the employee support office system, and no information related to virtual asset wallet addresses that could be used for illegal payments or asset transfers has been found to have been leaked. Regulatory authorities have initiated on-site investigations and pledged to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation and consumer protection, while also studying measures to enhance cybersecurity in the virtual asset industry and other related fields.
