US regulators plan to introduce new regulations to speed up the approval of liquefied natural gas projects

According to CoinMeta, U.S. regulators proposed new regulations on Wednesday to accelerate the construction of liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects and expand export capacity. This is part of a broader initiative by the Trump administration to speed up energy infrastructure development and reduce consumer costs. The United States is currently the world's largest LNG exporter and is expected to add another 100 million tons of annual production capacity by the end of this decade. U.S. Transportation Secretary Shawn Duffy stated that the new regulations proposed by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) will help operators adopt new technologies to save costs and improve safety, with these technologies potentially saving $100 million in expenses each year. The proposed rules update the safety framework for LNG facilities and incorporate relevant standards set by the National Fire Protection Association regarding the location, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of LNG facilities.
