According to CoinMeta, Walsh stated at the end of the press conference that he has no plans to attend a disciplinary hearing scheduled by the White House for next week. This hearing is part of Trump's ongoing efforts to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook from her position. Cook is accused of making false statements in mortgage applications, which is the core allegation that President Donald Trump is using to try to remove her from her role. More than a year ago, Trump first attempted to fire Cook. Cook subsequently filed a lawsuit to retain her position, and the case eventually reached the U.S. Supreme Court. This summer, the Supreme Court ruled that the president cannot dismiss Federal Reserve officials at will and must provide a legitimate reason. Trump has established a three-person committee, led by his chief economic advisor, to investigate Cook and hold hearings regarding the relevant evidence.
