According to CoinMeta, on October 28th, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) under the U.S. Treasury Department announced sanctions against 10 individuals and one entity, accusing them of assisting North Korean individuals from entering American companies under false identities and transferring income through cryptocurrencies. Blockchain-based investigations revealed that one of these North Korean individuals had previously written code for blockchain and cryptocurrency protocols. The stablecoin compensation received by this individual was exchanged for another cryptocurrency, which was then aggregated through multiple addresses before being transferred to a Russian intermediary, who in turn sent it to a sanctioned Russian exchange.
