According to CoinMeta, the rebound of the US dollar, coupled with the outflow of safe-haven funds, has put pressure on the Japanese yen as we await the upcoming monetary policy meeting of the Bank of Japan. The US dollar regained some of its losses from the previous trading day against the yen, trading around 158.00 during the Asian session on Thursday. As the US dollar rebounded from its previous day's decline, it strengthened against the yen. At the same time, the outflow of safe-haven funds also put pressure on the yen. This change is driven by the decline in government bond prices and the improvement in market sentiment in the field of artificial intelligence. South Korean chip manufacturer SK Hyundai Electronics announced strong third-quarter results and declared plans to increase shareholder returns driven by growing profits in its artificial intelligence business, further boosting market optimism about the AI industry. Although the market generally expects the Bank of Japan to maintain interest rates unchanged, officials may signal a potential interest rate hike in December given ongoing inflationary pressures. Strategists at Rabobank noted that the yen has improved in performance among the G10 currencies; so far this year, the yen has been the second strongest currency, after the Norwegian krone, and ranks fourth among G10 currencies so far this year.
