Fed hawks pause interest rate hikes to support the dollar; the US Dollar Index holds above the 102 level

According to CoinMeta, the Fed's hawkish stance on pausing interest rate hikes has supported the US dollar. The US Dollar Index rose slightly during the Asian session on Thursday, remaining above the 102.00 level and approaching its two-week high reached on Wednesday. Traders are awaiting the release of important US macroeconomic data, including the preliminary figures for the third quarter and the Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index (PCEPI), in order to identify new drivers for market trends. The market is betting on a Fed interest rate hike in December, and if the data is strong, it will further reinforce market expectations and drive up the US Dollar Index. Although the Fed has signaled a hawkish pause in interest rate hikes, the immediate market reaction may be relatively limited. Meanwhile, regional mediation efforts led by Qatar are working to restart negotiations between the United States and Iran to prevent another outbreak of war. Geopolitical risk premiums still exist, so even if there is a technical pullback in the US Dollar Index, it is more likely to attract buying at lower levels, and the decline could be relatively limited.
