According to CoinMeta, Walmart, the world's largest retailer, has decided to remove its shares from the tokenization stock trading platforms planned for OKX and ICE. Companies such as Walmart, Eli Lilly, Cigna, Carnival, and Arcos Dorados have expressed opposition to offering their shares on the OKX-ICE trading platform. According to a notice updated on Wednesday by the platform, these five companies bring the total number of opposing firms to 38, an increase from 33 the previous day. Since the first list of 9 opponents was published on October 15th, the number has grown to 16, and it reached 22 on October 23rd. The latest addition of opponents extends the opposition beyond technology and finance to include sectors such as retail, healthcare, and tourism. Under the innovative exemption provisions of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), trading platforms must notify companies before offering tokenized versions of their shares. If a company opposes in writing within 30 days, the trading platform will not be able to offer those shares for trading. This exemption limits the platform to listing a maximum of 75 of the largest and most liquid stocks, with a trading volume limit of 0.25% of the average daily trading volume for each stock.
