Gate Founder Shares Security Strategies: No Single Party Is Allowed to Use Funds Alone
2026-10-30 16:41:01
According to CoinMeta, the founder of Gate stated that both exchange-hosted and user-held private keys carry the risk of single-point failure. They proposed a vault solution: by using MPC, the private keys are split and held separately by the user's device, Gate, and a third-party disaster recovery party, so that no single party can access the funds on their own. There is a 48-hour delay before funds can be transferred out, during which time users can freeze their assets. Gate mentioned that once users complete identity verification, they can recover their assets with the help of the other two parties. Even if the Gate service is unavailable, users can still retrieve their assets through their devices, the third-party shards, and open-source tools.
