Binance Discovers Additional Vulnerabilities in the $630 Million Hacker Attack
2026-10-30 17:57:13
According to CoinMeta, Binance discovered "additional vulnerability points" during a security incident on Thursday, which is estimated to have caused losses of about $6.3 billion. Binance stated that the initial focus was on a compromised engineer's laptop, but subsequent investigations revealed that the attackers may have used this device to access service containers and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. Binance CEO Richard Teng indicated that the attackers did not merely exploit the permissions of one engineer; this was not a simple "one-click" operation, but rather a more complex attack process. Binance said that it has frozen approximately $3 billion in affected assets and will cover all losses.
