According to CoinMeta, North Korean hackers are accused of stealing a record $6.3 billion in cryptocurrencies in the attack on Binance's network. Although about half of the stolen funds were frozen during the cross-chain transfer process, this incident is still considered the largest crypto theft in history. Binance stated that the hackers gained access to the company's network by attacking a "compromised" engineer's laptop and executed unauthorized withdrawal transactions. The exchange has suspended all deposits and withdrawals and is conducting an investigation. Security researchers pointed out that this attack is linked to a North Korean hacking group known as TraderTraitor, which specializes in stealing cryptocurrencies from large companies and exchanges.
