According to CoinMeta, a rare speedboat attack occurred in the Strait of Hormuz yesterday, resulting in a fire in the engine room of an oil tanker. The UK Maritime Trade Operations Office (UKMTO) stated that on October 29th, an oil tanker was attacked by speedboats in the Strait of Hormuz, and the attackers used explosives to damage the engine of this large vessel. This is the first such attack in the current conflict, although Iran has previously used similar tactics to attack merchant ships. (UKMTO) indicated that the attack on Thursday was carried out by several people on a small speedboat; the explosion occurred above the waterline and did not cause any injuries. The fire temporarily prevented the ship from operating normally, but the oil tanker continued to sail afterwards. The weapon involved in this incident is known as an "adhesive mine," which is usually fixed near the waterline or on the bottom of the ship in order to maximize the extent of damage.
