CZ: $6.3 billion in hacker losses is not the largest amount according to BTC
2026-10-31 02:08:27
According to CoinMeta, Wu said that the founder of Binance, CZ, stated that although $6.3 billion is the largest loss in a hacker attack measured in US dollars, this is not necessarily the case when measured by the quantity of BTC. The Gox incident involved 650,000 BTC, which accounts for more than 5% of the total supply of Bitcoin. CZ pointed out that when assessing the impact of a hacker attack, one should also consider the number of affected users and the proportion of assets lost. The Gox and FTX incidents affected nearly all users and their assets. More importantly, it depends on who bears the losses and whether the platform compensates in full; for example, in the recent incidents involving centralized exchanges, only the platforms themselves were damaged. CZ stated that such incidents still have a significant impact on the industry, Binance, and himself, but protecting users remains the top priority.
