According to CoinMeta, Raymond Christian Garcia and Isaiah Angelo Garcia from Texas were sentenced to 326 months in prison for a violent home invasion robbery. On September 19, 2025, they broke into a home in Minnesota, tied up the entire family, and threatened them with guns, forcing the father to hand over over $8 million in cryptocurrency. The two fled after the victim's son called 911, and were subsequently arrested near Houston. U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen described the Garcia brothers' actions as bold and deliberate violence. Christopher Dorson, from FBI, referred to this case as a typical example of a "wrench attack," where criminals use violence rather than hacking to obtain cryptocurrency. In the first half of 2026, there were 46 such violent incidents recorded, resulting in losses of over $30 million.
