Binance Co-founder CEO: Hacker attacks use self-destruction mechanisms, making tracking and investigation more difficult

According to CoinMeta, Binance's co-CEO Richard Teng announced on October 30 the progress of the investigation into a hack involving approximately $6.3 billion, stating that it was not carried out by a single individual. The initial investigation pointed to a compromised laptop, but the team later discovered other entry points. The attackers used a self-destruction mechanism to erase their tools and traces during the operation, making tracking more difficult. He stated that the attackers obtained execution permissions on hot wallets through EIP-7702, and the related transactions did not go through Binance's normal approval process. As a result, Binance suspended withdrawals and is currently rebuilding and testing the relevant systems, with the goal of restoring services within about 40 hours, while also cooperating with law enforcement authorities to track the stolen funds.
