2026-11-01 03:12:30
According to CoinMeta, as October is coming to an end, the reputation of "Black October" has been validated. On October 20th, a vulnerability in the PHP software was discovered, allowing attackers to take control of servers without logging in, resulting in hundreds of thousands of attempted attacks. This prompted governments in countries such as the UK, the Netherlands, France, Denmark, and Finland to shut down related websites. On October 26th, the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) confirmed that the vulnerability had been exploited and required federal agencies to fix it within three days. Meanwhile, Japan faced data breaches: Sourcenext had 22.5 million records leaked, Skyticket had 14.6 million, Capcom had 11.8 million, and Burger King Japan had 11.2 million; Denmark's population registration office also experienced a breach with 8.8 million records compromised. On October 29th, Binance was attacked by hackers, suffering a loss of $6.3 billion, but 90% of services have since been restored, and withdrawals are expected to be re-enabled on November 1st. Bitcoin fell by about 7% in October, while Ethereum fell by about 16%.
