According to CoinMeta, FBI officially confirmed that North Korea is the mastermind behind the $6.3 billion attack on Binance. FBI stated that North Korea stole over $6 billion in cryptocurrencies around October 29th and blamed the same hacker group, “TraderTraitor”, which is also associated with a $1.5 billion Bybit hacking incident. FBI is urging exchanges and DEFI services to block these hacker addresses to prevent money laundering. Binance claimed that its users will not bear the cost of this theft and has already covered 90% of the losses before re-opening withdrawals on Sunday.
