BNP Paribas: If the Democratic Party wins the midterms in the United States, it could put pressure on Asian AI stocks

According to CoinMeta, William Blanton, an analyst at BNP Paribas, stated in a report that if the Democratic Party in the United States wins the midterms, Asian stocks related to artificial intelligence (AI) may face pressure. He pointed out that if the Democrats achieve a complete victory, market sentiment towards AI could be impacted, and policies would place greater emphasis on AI security, testing, and industry standards. Additionally, if the Democrats perform strongly, the market may begin to take into account the possibility of a "blue wave" sweeping through Congress in 2028, which would increase the room for more stringent AI regulatory measures to be introduced. Given that the stock markets in Northeast Asia have a large exposure to the US-led AI supercycle, this could pose problems. However, Blanton added that as investors' focus shifts to the AI commercialization and monetization of AI, corporate earnings will have a greater impact on the trend of the Asian tech sector in the short to medium term.
