RBA raises interest rates to a 18-year high
2026-11-03 11:50:36
According to CoinMeta, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) raised its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 4.85% on Tuesday, the highest level in 18 years, continuing the most aggressive tightening cycle among developed economies. Faced with inflation that has yet to return to the target range, policymakers are still working hard to address the issue. The decision to raise rates was passed by the nine-member Interest Rate Decision Committee with a vote of 6 to 3. RBA Governor Philip Lowe will hold a press conference at 12:30 Beijing time and is expected to be asked about the possibility of further rate hikes in the future, especially against the backdrop of global energy shocks and limited domestic production capacity.
