US mid-term elections raise concerns, South Korean stock market turns from rise to fall
2026-11-04 10:28:42
According to CoinMeta, as investors await the results of the U.S. mid-term elections, the South Korean stock market turned down after opening higher, with stocks related to artificial intelligence (AI) declining. South Korea's KOSPI index fell by 2.7%, and heavyweight stock Samsung Electronics dropped by 3%, while SK Hynix fell by 4.5%. Asian AI infrastructure companies are highly dependent on U.S.-led AI investments. IM Securities analysts Yang Hyun - Kyung stated in a report that if the Democratic Party controls both the Senate and the House of Representatives, there may be an increase in calls for strengthened AI regulation, which could bring uncertainty to the timeline for data center expansions.
