Democrats poised to control Congress, U.S. Treasury bonds rise

According to CoinMeta, on Wednesday, U.S. Treasury bonds rose. With Democrats expected to take control of Congress, investors anticipate that Washington will fall into a political deadlock, which could limit government spending. At the same time, regulation of artificial intelligence may slow economic growth and reduce the necessity for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates. Analysts said that the market also breathed a sigh of relief that President Trump's plan to distribute $5,000 to each adult American might not be realized. In addition, the decline in the stock market prompted investors to turn to safe-haven assets such as Treasury bonds, which also provided support for the bond market. Trump had previously promised to distribute $5,000 to each adult American citizen if the Republicans successfully retained control of Congress. This plan involved approximately $1.2 trillion, which is equivalent to 16% of the federal budget. Andrew Lilley, chief interest rate strategist at Barrenjoey, said, "Although the market previously thought the likelihood of this scenario occurring was only 5%, that risk has now disappeared. If it were to be implemented, there would be a catastrophic reaction in the Treasury bond market."
