Industrial Bank: If Democrats take control of the House of Representatives, it will have the most profound impact on the U.S. debt market

According to CoinMeta, Jan Groen, the chief economist of Industrial Bank, stated that among the various possible outcomes of the U.S. mid-term elections, a Democratic-controlled House of Representatives could have the greatest impact on the U.S. Treasury market. He pointed out that after the Republicans lose control of the House and its budgetary powers, the Trump administration will find it difficult to further reduce taxes or implement other expansionary fiscal policies. Groen said, "The resulting fiscal policy deadlock will reduce the likelihood of further increases in fiscal spending and decrease the risk of a continued deterioration of the fiscal situation, thereby limiting the upward pressure on long-term U.S. Treasury yields." However, he added that the Democrats' majority advantage in Congress is limited, and factors such as the Senate's filibuster rules and the president's veto power will pose significant constraints on the Democrats' efforts to increase spending.
