Nomura: Results of the U.S. mid-term elections may ease Japan's trade and energy pressures
2026-11-04 15:32:31
According to CoinMeta, Eiji Kimura, an economist at Nomura Research Institute, stated that as the Democratic Party takes control of both houses of Congress in the United States, Japan may see a relaxation in areas such as trade and energy prices. He pointed out that the momentum behind the policies of the Trump administration could be curbed, so the government's further increase in tariffs or adoption of tough policies towards Iran is expected to face limitations. This would help to prevent a further deterioration of Japan's trade terms with the US and alleviate the pressure of rising oil prices. However, Kimura also noted that President Trump could still shift his focus to foreign policy, as he faces far fewer restrictions in this area than in domestic affairs.
