Analyst: Claude Code Game Replication Restrictions Accidentally Harm Normal Development, Anthropic Urgent Adjustment of Rules
2026-11-04 17:08:56
According to CoinMeta, Anthropic has just adjusted the game development restrictions for Claude Code. Last week, the authorities added two warning phrases to Opus 5.5, prohibiting the replication of existing games, which also resulted in the interception of projects that were merely making normal references to such gameplay, leading to complaints from developers. Anthropic engineer Addy Osmani admitted that the new rules were too broad. This issue has now been corrected in Claude Code 2.1.317: developers can now directly cite existing games and tell Claude what kind of gameplay they want to implement, and Claude should then develop an original game of the same type accordingly. If a direct copy of the original work is requested, Claude will suggest creating a similar piece of content instead.
