Tim Moore: UK service sector output growth accelerates, price pressures increase
2026-11-04 17:35:08
According to CoinMeta, Tim Moore, the Director of Financial Intelligence Economics at S&P Global Markets, stated that October data showed an acceleration in growth in the UK service sector, while price pressures further increased, in line with the trends observed in the manufacturing sector. These signals indicate that a rate hike by the Bank of England in November is almost a foregone conclusion and have increased the likelihood of the bank further tightening monetary policy in 2027. Service providers noted that the pace of business activity has risen to its highest level since February, and new orders have also rebounded significantly. Despite facing challenges such as geopolitical tensions, high cost pressures, and low consumer confidence, the UK economy continues to demonstrate greater resilience. The increase in business volume is mainly due to improved potential sales opportunities, especially those related to investment spending in artificial intelligence. Input price inflation accelerated for the third consecutive month, reaching its highest level since May, with the latest round of average costs rising significantly, mainly due to increases in fuel and transportation costs, wage increases, and higher energy prices.
