According to CoinMeta, OpenAI revealed an internal model that has not yet been released. In the BenchCAD 2.0 engineering design evaluation, it achieved an average score of 0.875, significantly exceeding the highest score of 0.594 for the highest inference level of GPT-6 Astra, representing a relative improvement of about 47%. This model primarily tests whether AI can restore 3D parts based on drawings, assemble mechanical structures, and identify circuit connections. OpenAI also showcased the Astra's machine-building experiment, where employees were able to design a physical device that could interact with Codex via voice in less than a week. OpenAI also collaborated with the racing team Chip Ganassi Racing to convert 3D scans of parts into editable CAD models and manufacturing drawings.
