According to CoinMeta, the European Commission stated that Montenegro is expected to join the EU in 2028, which could prompt the EU to restart its membership expansion process. Currently, Europe is seeking to expand its global influence. The EU commissioner responsible for enlargement, Marta Kos, told reporters on Wednesday, "Based on the current progress, we could be ready to sign the accession treaty as early as June 2027." However, Montenegro will still need to obtain approval from all EU member states before it can officially join the EU. Kos also mentioned that Albania, Moldova, and Ukraine may become subsequent members of the EU, stating that these countries are moving along a "credible" path to membership, although there are still doubts among European countries regarding this.
