According to CoinMeta, Liquid was attacked on September 6th. The attackers exploited a vulnerability in the proof-of-stake verification mechanism within the elements range to issue approximately 4,000 additional L-BTC tokens, causing the reserve to drop from around 4,205 BTC to 197. Most of these tokens have since been returned, and the last 250 BTC tokens deposited on November 2nd filled the gap. sideswap indicates that 4,270.54 BTC tokens support an equivalent amount of L-BTC. Direct redemption through the alliance is still restricted; users need to exit through exchange service providers.
