Australia's trade surplus expected to hit a decade-low

According to CoinMeta, Australia's trade surplus is expected to fall to its lowest level in a decade this year, mainly due to the demand for chips and servers by data centers, which has increased imports from China, while energy costs are also rising sharply. Data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows that imports in September grew by more than 13%, reaching A$45.2 billion (about $32 billion), following an historic 10% increase in exports in August, which approached A$48 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of A$2.8 billion that month. In the first nine months of this year, Australia's trade surplus was slightly over A$17 billion, the lowest level for the same period in a decade. Although exports of commodities remain strong, the import of high-priced fuel is also dragging down growth.
