According to CoinMeta, the Democratic Republic of the Congo is seeking investors to participate in power projects worth a total of $12 billion over the next five years in order to alleviate the power shortage that is restricting economic growth. Luamba, the CEO of the Congolese National Electric Power Company, stated that the related projects cover areas such as power generation, transmission, and distribution. In addition to developing the Inga hydroelectric complex, they also include other power infrastructure constructions. The Inga hydroelectric complex is expected to become the largest power generation facility of its kind in the world in the future. Last week, Luamba said that the country's booming mining industry "is creating tremendous opportunities and has also sparked strong interest in power investment from the market." He also added, "We have had extensive discussions with financial institutions, and the prospects are currently very optimistic." Government data shows that the country has about 3,350 potential sites for hydropower generation, with a combined theoretical generating capacity of 16.72 gigawatts, of which the Inga hydroelectric project alone is expected to have a generating capacity of over 40 gigawatts.
