Vitalik Buterin: The top priority for the crypto industry in the next two years is to ensure survival

According to CoinMeta, as reported by moneycontrol, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated in an interview that with major exchanges such as Binance suffering consecutive hacker attacks, the top priority for the crypto industry over the next two years is not to compete for victory, but to ensure survival. He believes that the major security incidents over the past year and a half have been more focused on user interfaces and centralized components, while attacks related to smart contracts have significantly decreased. Major exchanges, custodian institutions, and financial organizations need to adopt stricter security measures and enter a state similar to a “fortress mode.” Vitalik warns that if hacker attacks continue, regulatory authorities may require companies to assume stricter security responsibilities. He also mentioned that Ethereum will in the future utilize zero-knowledge proofs, AI, and formal verification to advance the Lean Ethereum roadmap, and L2 should focus on exploring high-performance DeFi, privacy, and enterprise applications, rather than simply replicating Ethereum’s scalability features.
