Claude Code Fixed the issue of the backend sub-component Agent "stealing quotas": Status update cost reduced by 99%
2026-11-05 19:06:47
According to CoinMeta, Claude Code has fixed the issue of the background sub-process agent "stealing quotas," reducing status update costs by about 99%. Previously, developers noticed that the background sub-process agent would consume a large amount of token even when no new tasks were being executed, simply due to continuous progress reporting. Now, Claude Code has switched to a cheaper Haiku 5.5, which generates status prompts based on brief notes without the need to repeatedly read the full conversations. Officials claim that using the background sub-process agent saves about 5% of the quota overall, which is equivalent to being able to make about 6% more requests with the same amount of quota. This optimization is only applicable to the Claude Code command-line version and requires an upgrade to v2.1.316 or a later version.
