According to CoinMeta, data released by Russia's Ministry of Finance on Thursday showed that the total fuel subsidies in October reached 415 billion rubles (about 5.1 billion US dollars), a new high in over four years. The subsidy is intended to encourage oil producers to supply road fuel to the domestic market first, despite exports being more economically attractive. The subsidies flow to Russia's largest oil companies, including Rosneft and Tatneft, among others. Despite Russia having banned the export of most diesel, gasoline, and aviation fuel, the government continues to maintain this subsidy policy.
