According to CoinMeta, Bitcoin mining company Mara Holdings announced that the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved its acquisition of Long Ridge Energy and Power, determining that the transaction is in the public interest. This acquisition will add 505 megawatts of combined cycle natural gas power generation facilities and over 1,600 acres of land, supporting its expansion into the fields of AI and high-performance computing infrastructure. The transaction is expected to be completed within weeks, which will increase Mara's own power generation capacity by over 300% and expand its financial base. Mara is not expected to reduce Long Ridge Energy's current power supply to the PJM grid.
