MSCI: Only by seeing South Korea implement regulatory reforms can it be upgraded to a developed market

According to CoinMeta, Henry Fernandez, the chairman and CEO of MingSheng Company ( MSCI ), stated that if South Korea wishes to upgrade its market status to a “developed market,” MSCI requires seeing that its regulatory reform measures are truly put into practice. He pointed out that all parties need to work together to push all participants to complete the final stages of the work. Since taking office in June 2025, South Korean President Lee Jae-myeong has introduced market reforms and tax measures to boost the domestic stock market. In addition, South Korea opened its foreign exchange market in July this year, allowing the won to be traded 24 hours a day in an effort to obtain an upgraded market status. Regulatory authorities are also considering other measures to address the long-standing issue of undervaluation of local stocks compared to their global counterparts, including expanding the scope of English-language information disclosure by companies, encouraging companies to increase dividends, and publicly naming companies with extremely low price-to-book ratios.
