According to CoinMeta, as the wave of selling in artificial intelligence stocks intensified and spread to the credit market, SoftBank Group led the decline in Asian dollar-denominated bonds on Friday. Data showed that SoftBank's dollar bonds maturing in 2032 fell by 0.9 cents on Friday, recording the largest one-day decline in 10 weeks. SoftBank's bonds became some of the worst-performing in Asia, with its stock price falling by as much as 16%. Previously, the prices of credit default swaps (CDS) related to some American companies that were hit by the selling pressure associated with AI soared significantly. Traders said that the yield premium on Asian dollar bonds expanded by at least 3 basis points. This selling activity also added new pressure to the global economy. On Thursday, the average spread on Asian investment-grade dollar bonds rose to 73 basis points, the highest level since July 2025. However, the extent of selling in the credit market remains lower than that in the stock market.
