According to CoinMeta, on November 6th, the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) issued a notice agreeing to the registration of sunflower seed oil futures and options at the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (ZCE). The CSRC will supervise ZCE to ensure that the smooth launch and stable operation of sunflower seed oil futures and options are achieved. As the fourth-largest edible vegetable oil variety globally and the fifth-largest in China, the approval of sunflower seed oil futures and options further enriches the risk management tools in the oil and fat industry chain. ZCE has made targeted arrangements for the design of the futures contracts and delivery rules. There are no restrictions on the countries of origin for imported sunflower seed oil, and three alternative delivery products have been set up to maximize the available delivery volume. A delivery method that combines warehouse and factory warehouses is adopted to facilitate participation from various industry entities. Additionally, factory warehouses are allowed to postpone delivery by up to 30 days, giving sellers time to allocate supplies globally. The delivery areas cover major trading hubs such as Jiangsu, Shanghai, Shandong, and Tianjin, covering over 90% of domestic consumption and trade volume. Xinjiang has been designated as a non-benchmark delivery area to facilitate land transportation of sunflower seed oil from Central Asian countries for delivery purposes. Furthermore, the limit on positions for delivery months is set at 50 lots (1,000 tons) to effectively prevent delivery risks and ensure the stable operation of the market.
