According to CoinMeta, recent selling in U.S. stocks has led to a shift of funds towards U.S. Treasury bonds, with traders betting that yields will continue to decline. Before the release of the U.S. October employment report on Friday, bond traders were already betting that the U.S. Treasury market would continue to rise, and expectations for further interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve have cooled down. Following the mid-term elections in the United States, global stock markets experienced selling pressure, prompting investors to turn to U.S. Treasury bonds as a safe-haven this week. The yield on 10-year U.S. Treasuries fell to its lowest level since early September on Thursday, closing at 4.82%. A trade in the options market bet that the yield on 10-year U.S. Treasuries could drop to 4.7% by the end of next weekend, while another trade expiring on November 20 bet that yields would fall to around 4.35%. Gennadiy Goldberg, the head of U.S. interest rate strategy at TD Securities, stated that the data to be released on Friday is expected to be somewhat weak, but the market is still mainly focused on economic fundamentals.
