According to CoinMeta, the State Administration for Market Regulation has issued two new supplementary testing methods for foods targeting illegally added phenolbutyl (phenolting) and bisacodyl derivatives. Phenolbutyl (phenolting) and bisacodyl substances have a stimulant and laxative effect, and long-term consumption may lead to abdominal pain, diarrhea, electrolyte imbalance, as well as liver and kidney damage. As law enforcement efforts continue to intensify, some unscrupulous individuals, in order to evade regulation, add new derivatives of these two substances to foods such as jellies, candied fruits, candies, and beverages, while falsely claiming their therapeutic effects. The newly introduced testing methods can effectively identify various new derivatives of these two substances, providing technical support for regulatory enforcement and sentencing.
