According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Iran's national television, explosions were heard in southern Iran's cities of Jask, Sirak, Bandar Abbas, and on the island of Qeshm. The cause of the explosions is still unclear. Iranian officials have not yet confirmed the source of the explosions. The semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim previously reported that two missiles struck Qeshm Island, but there is no official information regarding possible damages. In the days prior to this, the United States launched attacks on Qeshm Island. A U.S. official stated that the scale of these attacks was limited and did not indicate a resumption of large-scale military operations. Countries in the Middle East had been concerned that U.S. President Donald Trump might resume strikes against Iran after the U.S. mid-term elections. Trump postponed attacks on Iran in the weeks before the elections. Iran has repeatedly stated that if it is attacked again, it will target American and Israeli facilities within neighboring countries.
