According to CoinMeta, on October 31, 2026, b14g released a security incident review report. Attackers took advantage of a compatibility flaw between the b14g staking contract and the core network's native staking contract to initiate 99 zero-amount withdrawal requests in a single transaction, resulting in the theft of approximately 97.05 million core. This attack did not involve the leakage of private keys, and the BTC staked with b14g was not affected. Approximately 68.15 million core were recovered through a hard fork on November 2 via core, and another approximately 12 million core have been frozen by the trading platform. b14g plans to return the recovered core proportionally within the next 5 to 7 days, while the remaining losses will be compensated through 50% of future core staking business revenue. Affected users can receive their compensation on a weekly basis.
